Fiji

Hey, everyone! This is Dalton. The below post was written about 2 weeks ago, but we didn’t have internet service for about a month, so the posts are delayed. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to:

June 1

Right now we’re in a place called the Lau Group in Fiji. We dropped off our crew that came with us to Fiji today, Bright Williamson and Pat McIlwain. They have been on board with us since we left Auckland and they left today. They have been so fun and a HUGE help with everything! So, Pat, Bright, if you guys are reading this, just know that we’re missing you!

The past few days have been really fun! Hall and I went up the mast in the bosuns chair. Daddy, Bright and Pat attached  a bunch of lines to us and wenched us up the mast!* We both went up to the staysail, which is a few feet from the top. The view was amazing!

*Fun fact: The mast is 75 FEET TALL!

Hi everyone! This is Dalton, again 🙂 We’re in Paradise(Literally! That’s the name of this dive resort!) On Taviuni island in Fiji. !! It is so cool and beautiful here! We met some kids from another boat- it’s a trimaran named  Air Power. They have 5 boys, between the ages of 4-12. We have enjoyed finally seeing some kids. There’s a seaside pool that’s open 24/7, a poolside Bar and Restaurant, spa services, laundry services, a big cliff jump, a Boutique, a library, Shower facilities, Hammocks scattered around the grounds, a bakery, and most of all, FRIENDS! They recently left for the Lau Group (where we were recently) and we were sad see them go. We hope to meet up with them again later this month. have loved doing everything that the resort has to offer. I am also getting beads braided in my hair and a pedicure tomorrow!

A few days ago, we sailed to Savusavu to pick up the Middletons (Frank, Marilia, Julia (18) and Sophia (16). They own Nogal and Daddy and Frank are best friends. We have had SO much fun with them! They are on board with us for two weeks. We picked up a LOT of fresh food that we had send from New Zealand. We were all SO excited to get fresh fruits and vegetables- especially Mommy! We’ve been eating frozen veggies for over a month and we’ve had to ration everything. We also got fresh eggs and pineapples and bananas. We all went to the store in Savusavu and provisioned, and then we left to come back to Paradise! Our sail was long and much rougher than we expected. Some of us didn’t feel well- especially Marilia. But, we made it and we are all so excited to be here! We all went to dive/snorkel the Rainbow Reef yesterday, which was amazing! There is an area called the Cabbage Patch, which is a mass of enormous, beautiful corals that look just like cabbages!

While here, we have met another boat named Swift. They have two girls on board: a 12 year old and a 15 year old. We showed them the cliff jump and our parents met up for Happy Hour while the kids played games. We invited them over yesterday for cards while our parents looked at sailing charts of Indonesia and talked about the weather. Today, we will probably do some more windsurfing and paddle boarding. We are enjoying just taking it easy, playing with other kids, and eating good food!

Well, that’s all that’s going on right now. Bye!
